The R7 price seems reasonable. It seems to be very well specced compared to competitors. I would say the only thing that is lower than expected is the EVF resolution. But the price is good. I can easily imagine a lot of people adding this to R5.
The R10 price seems too high. To me this is a replacement for M50. It is specced better than M50, but in this segment pricing is very important. Also the M50 is quite old. I would say the near $1k price tag would be more justified if it at least had the 32Mpix sensor or IBIS (or both). A lot of people are impressed by 15fps, but I don't see many beginners using it. I never use the super fast fps on my M6 mark II.
I am curious what the market will do with the R10 price, maybe we will be seeing it for $700 by the 2023 holiday season.
Also the kit pricing with the 18-150 seems high. $400 premium if buying that kit seems high.
Actually I think the R10 (DIGIC X) will run rings around the RP, save for the RP's (FF) IQ.
I have seen enough already to know the R10 will run rings around many cameras regarding AF, frame rates and likely noise. Some reviewers have even said the AF of these cameras are better than the AF of Nikon's Z9. Frankly, I am shocked at how little Canon used the almighty Cripple Hammer on these two cameras.
None of us has used either of them yet.
A lot of people have and the general consensus is these two cameras are outstanding. Especially the R7 at its price point. We will know if this holds soon enough. I think the odds are high they will prove to be as advertised and reviewed so far.
Yea I’m sure they are going to be totally unbiased after being so well taken care of by Canon
Some are biased by a lot are not. I think they all gave pretty good reviews considering the circumstances.
I’m not saying they are wrong or the camera is bad. It might not be as good as it could have been in order to hit the $1500 price point and that’s fine even though I would have personally liked to pay more for a better camera. I’m definitely buying this one and don’t expect a higher end crop camera to be coming, this is what we’re getting I think. I’m sure I’ll get tons of great photos with it and enjoy using it. Having said that, it really doesn’t matter what I wanted this camera to be, this is what it is so time to start seeing the bright side starting with it only costs $1500 and it sounds like you can slow the frame rate we ES. It also sounds like they beefed up the shutter durability from the 90d so that addressed the biggest issue I had with that camera. It’s also pretty light so that’s a plus. I was a little concerned about Jorden’s comments about accidentally changing the comp with the new rear wheel. I’ve heard mixed messages about the weather seals but it sounds like they aren’t as good as the R6 but better than the RP. That’s not a huge worry for me. I just really hope the controls don’t feel cramped. Anyway, I’m looking forward to trying the R7 out.
IMO, Canon made the R7 the best APS-C camera they have ever produced, bar none. The fact they did this well below the 7D/2 price point makes the R7 an even better value.
Without a doubt it is now, 7d mk2 is quite old now.
I think the R7 will keep a lot of Canon DSLR users from jumping to Fuji. It seems to be targeted at the X-T4 to me more than any other competitor's cameras.
