In the past third parties have stepped up and provided grips when Canon (and others) didn't. For these cameras the size and shape of the (fixed?) battery door, lack of a cutout in the door for external power and the USB socket under a rubber cover on the end might mean any such product would need to be a bit clunky, to say the least.
