The RP will switch to crop mode only using the center 10MP from the sensor. You will see a field of view similar to 28-240mm lens on FF. So if you have the RF 24-240mm you can get similar FOV with full 24MP

Both of you are correct. 26mp cropped to APS-C size is 26mp / 1.6^2 ~= 10mp. By the same token, an EOS R will let you shoot at 12mp, R6 at 8mp and R5 at 18mp.
