RF 100-500 Lens Pin?

I use a universal Arca-Swiss plate on my RF 100-500 lens, but find that it sometimes rotates even though it has a small lip on it. I would like to put a small pin in the smooth locating hole on the Canon lens foot. This pin would stick through the slot on the plate and limit its rotation. Does anyone have a suggestion about what I could use for such a pin? I don't want to damage or modify the lens foot, so putting a set screw, grub or stud which is threaded wouldn't work.  I wouldn't think that a wooden dowel would be strong enough and I have no idea what would happen if it got wet.  Any suggestions about something that would fit tightly in the hole and be strong enough to prevent rotation?

p.s. I've considered the dedicated Kirk lens plate but it doesn't appeal to me, and I don't know of any others out there.
