Moniter calibration - is it only relevant for matching prints to screen?

Or is it also for matching other moniters and phone screens (at least more closely) on the web too?

Another question i have is - is it normal when trying to calibrate the screen it usually doesn't produce an accurate result especially with the target luminance?

I use an xrite i1 display calibration device (not the pro one), and i find i have to do it a lot of times to get it right, the target luminance is nearly always off.

Sometimes it's spot on, but in the last 10 attempts it just isn't happening even though i'm doing the exact same thing under the exact same conditions.
