i was using the Tamron 18-300 last night and wanted to do a timelapse but couldnt figure out how to put it in A mode

with my 23mm 1.4 you use the lens A ring to do but on the tamron theres nothing ?

Hi, an XT4 has no  specific A mode like a camera with a PASM dial. It has a more direct approach. If you look a the exposure triangle, Shutterspeed, Aperture and ISO are the exposure related variables. If you fix one or two of the variables, you determine the mode. So if you set the Aperture to a fixed value, you are in A mode.

Fix the Shutterspeed and you are in S mode. Set Shutter and Aperture to automatic, and you are in P mode. Etc.

To make life easy, i set my rear command dial to Aperture control. With my thumb i can now determine the Aperture setting, either a fixed value (setting shows as blue in the viewfinder) or autmatic, (this value is the click after your highest Aperture value, like F16 or so). The Aperture number in your viewfinder becomes white, and will change if you move the camera around.

Hope this helps,

Eric
