OM-1 focus limiter issue

If focus limits are set in the camera (3.AF), Release Priority (1.AF) is locked on ON and can't be turned off. The shutter release activates with AF focussed or not. However, if using the 300/4 at either of the two focus limiting ranges, near or far, the in-camera focus limit is turned off and the Release Priority setting is free to be set at either ON or OFF.
This does not seem logical to me. I'd like to have a narrower focus range than that provided by the lens but in so doing, I can't turn Release Priority off.
Is this a bug or deliberate for some reason?

PS:  I've just found that Release Priority can also be set within AF Limiter in 3.AF but it seems to have no effect.  It's weird.
