Another Panasonic for dummies question

M mode of Panasonic has been developed through 3 stages over the years.

• For the oldest models, Panny adopted a policy of M is M. Manual ISO only, no Auto ISO. Since EC is an instruction not only to tell how much we wish to bias on the camera's metering, most importantly it asked the camera to do corresponding adjustment on parameters to reflect the amount of exposure biased. Since M mode of this generation of Panny cameras did not have any parameter it can adjust (all 3 parameters were manually controlled by shooter), EC is meaningless and so it is not supported.

• For later models (M mode of my GX7 was the last of M43 released in 2013 does not support Auto ISO, might be around similar generation of compacts too), Panny camera M mode support Auto ISO. However this short live generation of models did not support EC. I think ZS100 is one of this generation of models. It is strange since some brands already allow EC...

• For latest models, M mode of Panny cameras supports Auto ISO and allow EC.

EC for M mode + Auto ISO in reality is adjustment on ISO by the camera. Therefore, we can do the same by manual ISO setting with reference to the in-camera exposure meter.

As per the manual, M mode of ZS200 supports Auto ISO and EC.
