Continual AF hunting with Canon EF tele on R5 with AF Continuous disabled

There may be a bug in fw 1.5.2 and I would appreciate if anyone could corroborate if they are experiencing the same phenomenon...

I am using my R5 with the Canon 800/5.6L + EF/RF adapter
set to face tracking - animal
Eye Detection enabled
Servo AF - Auto
Inital ServO AF point - Auto
Drive - Hi+
Mechanical shutter

if I set the AF to Continuous AF - Enable

the lens will hunt incessantly even when it should lock on to a flying bird, it's completely unusable (but works perfectly with the same settings using the 100-500RF)

if I disable AF Continuous the hunting ceases and AF works perfectly, until the camera goes into power save or is turned off and on again. Then it begins hunting again. Then I need to rechoose AF Continuous disable (even though it is already set to disable) which stops the hunting, until the next power save…

would be great if someone else could test if their R5 behaves the same way.

Canon EOS R5
