Hi Yonatan, both are good ( first ) cameras and A massive improvement over iphone or similar.

Guess it also depends on which lenses you get with the deal.
I think that if I would prefer a small camera and would not be bothered to develop this into a bigger photo hobby i would go for the M.

the 850 gives the option to add very nice lenses (Canon eos EF ) .. which in 3-6 years from now you could migrate to a new RF body. (That has been my canon history .. adding / upgrading lenses .. upgrading bodies .. but not always at the same time )

You could also wait for the new R10, which will be announced before end May. ( not sure when it will actually sell )

where i live the RP with a kit zoom lens is ~ 250 or 25% higher priced than the 2 options you considered. I guess if you have the cash, would recommend that one ( it will keep also more it’s value, so not that much more ‘expensive’ over the life time .

good luck ! Photography is a nice hobby. Nice pictures of interssting events will be even better memories with nice visuals !

In your case, a fresh new start, I would not go with the 850D. 850D is a very very good camera, but mirrorless is the future so my advice is to buy the M50ii over the 850D. But in your case, I would choose the new R10, announcement next week. With a RF16, a RF50STM and a RF24-105STM you have everything you need to start with photography.  Don't buy to much or to expensive. If the R10 does not have an electronic viewfinder, I would chose the RP and the same lenses, as the better choice. Price of RP is very good nowadays. If this RP is your first camera, then you can study a few years with this equipment, RP is small but very good, and after a few years you can make new and better choices based on you own experience. You can sell R10 or RP second hand. (Selling 850D will be more difficult in the future, I think.)
