Another Panasonic for dummies question

Still learning the ropes on my ZS100. Just noticed this one. I have sort of semi defaulted to running -1/3 stop exposure compensation to slightly bias the metering, but just noticed if I go into full manual (turn dial to M), in which I would still be using the camera's meter for guidance, my -1/3 compensation is now 0. Dial it back to aperture priority or ?? and the -1/3 stop comes back. I am pretty sure none of my other cameras act this way. Is this normal, or do I need to change something? Another quickie, the other day I somehow got it stuck in the 4k burst mode - I have no idea how, and almost thought I was going to reset back to factor to fix it. Finally pushed enough buttons to get out of it. Any guess what I had messed up to get there? Thanks - you guys are great to put up with me.
Bob,
Exposure compensation is forced to zero in M Mode. That's a restriction if you want to run ISO=Auto, but if you're at fixed ISO you can adjust the aperture+shutter+ISO settings to achieve whatever EV you want.
