There is not really any exposure compensation for a camera in manual mode. You set the exposure. Now there is usually a metering indication on the display. Nothing says you can't set the camera to be 1/3 of a stop off the suggested exposure when you are in manual mode. Essentially doing the same thing as dialing EC in when in an automatic mode.
