Where are Canons ~$1000 mid range lenses?

I don’t have a bottomless pit of money to spend on lenses unfortunately, which prices me out of the top end RF L glass, which I hear is very good. What bugs me is Canons complete lack of midrange options. Looking in Nikon world, there is a very decent 24-70 F4 selling for less than $1000 new and even less used, along with a plethora of high quality prime lenses, including pancakes. What does Canon have to offer at that price range? An extremely dark superzoom with poor image sharpness and substantial distortion, and two supertelephotos with such a dark aperture that they are only usable in broad daylight. Many of the RF lenses seem like downgrades rather than upgrades to their EF counterparts.
