I cannot be certain. But these sample shots clearly show something else is wrong, at least in these sample shots, as part of the frame exhibits no motion blur.

That's entirely possible. If you hold the camera steady, then you move it before the exposure is finished, you would have the camera steady for most of the shot.

On the other hand, the direction of motion is mostly horizontal -- not what I would expect if you lowered the camera after the exposure, so that doesn't fit my camera-movement hypothesis.

Others have surprisingly drastic motion blur at 1/80, 1/100 second, where other, slower shots, have very little. Seems to be an issue around these shutter speeds.

Is the problem with electronic or mechanical shutter?  That may be crucial.
