You are correct, seems more in the multiples of 100.000 units annually. Which is a low number for such a complex product and it actually further supports longer life cycles, pushed from the supplier to keep development cost under control.

-> Specifically, Canon reported 2.76 million units sold throughout 2020 (1.05M mirrorless cameras + 1.71M DSLR cameras = 2.76M total)

I do know that Canon sold 700,000 mirrorless cameras in 2017.  The would have been the last year before the launch of the RF mount and would have included the M5, M6, and a few months of the M100.  Canon sold 5.51 million interchangeable lens cameras all total in that year.  Basically double the total sales of 2020.

Mirrorless sales in 2018 might have been a bit higher with the launch of the highly successful M50, but a lot of those M50 sales came at the expense of M5 and M6 sales.  The R also launched in September of that year.  Canon's interchangeable lens camera sales also dropped to 5.05 million that year.  If M system sales were higher in 2018, it probably was not by much.  2017 or 2018 were likely the peak years for M system sales.  Prior to 2017 we have the far less successful M, M2, and M3.  After 2018 we have a major market decline along with the budget EOS RP cutting into M system sales.
