Hello
As I wrote in the title … “Stop me from buying an M6 Mk ii before Canon stops the M line”
initially looking at a compact as G1x or G5x with good IQ.. but IQ of the M6 II is much better .. so now considering the M6 ii instead..
I hear the M line might be stopped. Not necessarily an issue as this would be clearly a 2nd system for me (my 1st system being around the EF mount)
I hear an EOS R7 is soon to come but it will be bigger and more expensive than an M6 Mk ii
Regarding the G1x line, I was waiting for an elusive Mk iv but now stopped waiting
QUESTION: Is a brand new M6 Mk ii as a (slightly large) 2nd system / compact camera still a good buy in mid 2022 (even if the M line future is uncertain)?
thx in advance, kind regards
Gaul
Suppose the future of the eos m line is uncertain, so what? If you see in the m line what you are looking for, you don't have to wait. Buy what you need.
Some may say prices of eos m gear will go down when the APS-C sensor R cameras will show up or that there'll be plenty of second hand eos m gear available. I'm not sure. The eos m cameras and lenses are all affordable, light and compact. You'll have to see wether Canon will release such an extensive lens collection for the crop sensor R system with similar qualities.
You may wait a while to get an idea about that.
I wouldn't expect a G1X Mark IV. Not anytime soon at least. I have a G1X Mark III as a one camera one lens solution for travel. I don't feel like changing lenses when shooting leisurely. I would add an m200 with 22mm f2 for lower light shooting.
And I have my main EF system.

No perfect gear out there. Just be happy with what you have and go shoot.
