Jumping spider with OM-1 and my macro setup
39

I thought I would share my recent find - I have always wanted to see one of these tiny "Zebra" jumping spiders, more properly named Salticus scenicus. Just about 4mm long, one of the larger jumpers I have photographed lately....still at just 4mm! Very skittish, but cooperated for a few stacks before I let him go.

First, a glamour shot on an old iphone surface....took a while for him to get calm but took this quick stack of 67 frames, using 2/10 for my focus bracket mode with the OM-1, MC-20, 16mm Kenko, Olympus 60mm and the Raynox. Since that setup gives me about 5.5x when the macro lens is set at 1:1, I had to back off till the lens was around 1:2 or a bit under to fit the whole body in the frame. Assuming just around 3x magnification.

second, let him forage in the Creeping Charlie plant I have in my office. Once he hid, I went to work, this time using the Raynox 202, about 5x magnification with the 60mm backed off down a tad from 1:1.

Here is another stack when it was in the same position, but he moved his legs so the image didn't turn out....but the face did, so I cropped it and sharpened some in Topaz to get this image of his tiny face. Pretty happy with how it all turned out...used the 202 with the Olympus 60mm at a full 1:1, so about 7.5x magnification approximately
