How to solve issue with file name duplicates ?

For many years I am using Ricoh and got used to good system for filenaming.

This year I added Z50 to my gear and now I struggle with managing file names.

I attend public events and take lots of pictures so my goal is to have unique names for each taken photo.

In Ricoh I can have camera to create folders with date in the name, next I choose prefix for filename letter and digit and next six digits will increment. This way I have one or few folders for each day of shooting and inside there are no duplicates (in filenames) because filenames are unique.

With Nikon I have folder named like that 112NIKON and inside there are photos from different days. Worse is fact they increment only with 4 digits so once you hit 9999 you get another 0001.JPG and same filename you can have from a month ago or so.

I am using file indexing on my HDD for global search so I can type filename and easily get and open a photo and here I see a problem. Sure you can say there is no harm because there are in separate folders but it doesn't change the fact filenames are same and it happens that bigger filename value was earlier that day vs this with lower filename so no more sorting by filename, only by date.

Is there any in camera solution to this problem or I have to add another post processing work changing folders and filenames by myself ?

I'm asking because I've seen this video and I don't see any other option than just renaming by myself
