Why no Phase Fresnel lenses in a Zoom?
1

With folks wanting lighter zoom lenses like the 70-200 F/4, it got me to thinking....Why don't they put a PF lens in a Zoom to reduce weight?

Phase Fresnel
The Phase Fresnel (PF) lens element effectively compensates for chromatic aberration and ghosting when combined with ordinary glass lens elements. Utilising a Phase Fresnel lens element allows Nikon engineers to use fewer lens elements, resulting in a more compact and lightweight lens.

Any idea why this wouldn't work in a group of elements in a Zoom lens?   Are there any zoom lenses with a PF element?
