Let me start by saying thst I am not a big fan of the EF-M 55-200mm. I have owned the EF 70-200mm f/2.8 IS L II, EF 70-200mm f/4 IS L, EF-S 55-250mm IS STM, and EF-M 55-200mm IS STM. Especially at 200mm, the EF-M lens was easily the weakest of the bunch.

The EF 100mm f/2 is a great portrait lens. I preferred it over the more popular EF 85mm f/1.8.

For inside events, the 100mm f/2 would be much better than your 55-200mm. The 100mm is a lot better optically and also about 2 stops brighter.

At 100 mm, it’s probably 3 stops faster than the slow 55-200 zoom!

It's also unstabilized, so you might need 1/200th or so

Yep, that's roughly what I expect. A good portion of the time I was using the 55-200mm it was for events where the shutter speed needed to be higher to catch the action anyway.

Other times where things were more stationary, I still found that the IS couldn't outweigh the small aperture and not great performance wide open - and I would still end up cranking the ISO.

So I expect the 100mm f2 to help in both situations.

Nice.

45 is more than enough, but 500.000 isn't
