Is the 200-600 at 600mm sharpest at F8?

For the moment (last year) I am mostly doing BIF with my Sony A1 and Sony 200-600mm lens. I have programmed one button as custom recall function with Shutter priority set to 1/3200 secs, auto ISO and aperture is 6.3 at 600mm.

Until now I thought the images was slightly soft, and a few days ago I learned that the 200-600mm is sharpest at F8 at 600mm.

I changed the custom recall button to Aperture priority set to F8 and depending upon light the ISO is set to get to about 1/6400 and ISO 2500 (for both pictures). And I think my photos are way sharper now at F8. The noise and sharpening is done by DXO. And now I am quite happy with the result.

Does anyone else have the same experience? Is the 200-600mm at 600mm is sharpest at F8?

The last picture is wide open at 600mm (F6.3), shutter speed 1/3200 sec. And I think it is a bit soft compared to the to others at F8.

F8, 1/6400s and ISO 2500

F8, 1/6400s and ISO 2500

F6.3, 1/3200s and ISO 1000
