Re: Tutorial for Manual Mode?

Thank you tamaraw35. I do have a couple questions. [I may be experiencing a "head-space" issue...]

1. What I do is use AF normally (whatever mode, doesn't matter) and then have a button bound to toggle AF/MF. That effectively locks focus and allows fine tweaking with focus peaking or zoom.

This toggle AF/MF button binding sounds absolutely perfect! The problem I have is it does not seem available on my M6ii. A method called "AF/MF" does not appear as any of the available selections for the AF-ON button, or in the C. Fn III: Custom buttons table.

Of course there is the little lever surrounding the AF-ON button, (and also on some lens barrels. the camera lever may be enabled/disabled, and the focus mode toggled, using menus (see Guide pp223).

No button; but I suppose a visible lever actually may offer some advantages. Is this lever what you mean? Or is there another way to get a button binding?

For exposure lock in automatic or semi-automatic modes, there is a dedicated AEL button (*)... It's a toggle, you don't need to hold it.

Guide pp219 specifically says <*> is NOT a toggle, but will time out after eight seconds. If you need exposure locked for more than eight seconds you must hold in the button. It does seem to persist in movie recording (pp235). C.Fn I-7 pp533 also affects this lock in various focus methods.

Again, thank you for your response.
