I'm going to disagree with Erik this time - which is very rare because he almost always has totally solid advice. As a X-T2/20 shooter using Classic Chrome the vast majority of the time, I agree with your affection for the sim - using the 24mp sensor (which is identical on these two bodies).
Of course, the 26mp sensor has a significantly different architecture - and this changes the formula for the simulations. You have to live with the differing starting points, and it might be a huge processing task to get the exact same look from the two devices.
OK, I'm not a jpeg shooter and I don't have an X-T4, but I do have an X100V though which ought to be pretty close. I don't often shoot jpegs, but when I have, I've found the X-T20 (and X-T2) and X100v jpegs (X-Trans III and IV, respectively) to be very close with the Provia/Standard sim.
I did a little jpeg test to satisfy my own curiosity - which I totally screwed up by having the damn Color Chrome and Color Chrome FX Blue on in the X100V (yet another reason to shoot RAW, Jpegs are easy to screw up), but I'll give it another go tomorrow. Here's what I've found so far....
X-T2 Classic Chrome JPEG and RAW w/Adobe's Classic Chrome Profile - Very close
X100V and X-T2 RAWs, both with their respective Adobe Classic Chrome profiles - not perfect, but still very close (IMO)
X100V and X-T2 Jpegs - Way off, but the X100V had both Color Chrome options on which screwed the whole thing up (look how dark the X100V blues are)
As I already knew, it would only take a couple of easy tweaks to make the Classic Chrome profiles match very closely using the RAWs from these two cameras. I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that the SOOC Jpegs can be very close too - maybe with the help of an Auto WB and/or exposure compensation tweak (I used Auto exposure and the Daylight WB presets here. I'll use my X-T20 tomorrow, I didn't have it handy today.
