...My SX260, the lens was a...Dud! to say the least, so I was missing this little P&S to knock around, so found this baby on my local online market, for $40.00, and let me tell ya at the least to my eye, this little fella, is in another league;)
I have an SX240 that is the same camera as the SX260 without the GPS. Most pictures taken outside on a sunny day have a lot chromatic aberration. On zoom lenses, usually the problem is in the edges of the images, but with this camera it appears frequently in the center too. I tried to use smaller apertures, but it didn't reduce this problem. Was this the problem with your camera?
By the way, I also bought a used SX230 (same as the SX220 with the GPS) to replace the SX240. The image quality is much better!
WAddayathink?;)
Nice shot!
The first obligatory shot of the year of our Robin;) SOOC just basic PP and resized...
Thanks RGBRGB,
And yes unfortunately, I should have done my homework better the first time when I acquired the sx260, as it seems that there were many variations of this model, indeed in my copy, the lens, was nowhere near sharp as the SX220 W/A and F/T, and as you mentioned, the CA now that I recall, was more pronounced, bottom line, apart from the more tele zoom, that you get with sx260, the SX230/220 is a way better cam, ( got used at the pop up flash every time u turn on the cam:( ah did I mentioned that the battery last longer because It does not carry the GPS?;)…
I read some reviews, but none of them mentioned these problems. Maybe we got lemons.
As the SX230 is more than 10 years old, the battery that came with it certainly is not performing well. A little more juice would help. I think that I can disable the GPS. I hope it helps...
