Kolari do drop-in filters for Canon's and their mount adapters EF- EOS R, including geared VND and polarising filters, e.g. https://kolarivision.com/product/kolari-r-drop-in-filter-for-ef-eos-r-lens-adapter/. I don't know if they would do one to fit your lens or sell just the inner VND filter.

Canon do a circular polarising filter filter for your lenses, e.g. https://store.canon.co.uk/lens-filters/p/3/?oos=false. Putting a non-rotating sheet of straight polarising gelatin filter in the slot just in front of it would turn it into a VND filter, but there's no guarantee of colour accuracy when doing that.

I think you'll find that, just because you have to be able to adjust them, there's no such thing as a truly slimline VND filter.

Thanks, you're probably right... I may need to buy a variety of non-Variable ND filters - four, seven and ten stops - and then drop in each particular one, as required, for the job at hand. But I always like to 'travel light' whenever possible.

It's a pity Canon never did these filter types themselves so we could buy direct from them... all they make is a general 'holder' or a polarizer.

I am a working professional and Canon CPS member and I know for a fact that Canon tested their range of filters compared to other major brands. The Canon filters were indeed of a superior quality, especially compared to Hoya filters.
