Hello all, thinking of getting either X100v or XT4 with 16-80mm or Oly M5 iii with 12-40mm f2.8
Am thinking of taking some pics of landscape, city and family pics. We are 3 families travelling and it is going to be half family pics and half cith/nature pics.
While I love my X100V for street and family photos, I find a "normal" range zoom to be preferable for landscape, city and travel and in general.
Any recommendation/suggestion based on the location am travelling to. I do have full frame (R6), but my lens are bit heavy to carry out.
Planning to get mft or apsc for smaller footprint and lighter in weight..
Thanks once again!!
If you've got a full frame camera and you want something that's lighter/smaller, mft makes more sense (to me) than Fuji. But that also means you should be choosing compact items from within the mft offerings. In particular, I think the Panasonic 12-35/2.8 is a better choice than the Olympus 12-40/2.8 because of its small/lighter specs. Image quality is excellent. I used mine with my Olympus E-M5 II and they worked very well together.
If you don't need f/2.8, then the Panasonic 12-60/3.5-5.6 zoom is even smaller/lighter with more focal range.
There is nothing with the performance of the X-S10 anywhere near its price-point, its an X-T4 with cheaper evf but better ergonomics and single sd slot. Same goes for 16-80 f4, no 12-60 2.8 currently exists!
X-S10 different class to any m43 in image quality, identical iq to Sony A7IV!
Errr, that's a lot of hyperbole. X-S10 is a very good camera, but the E-M5 III and EOS M6 II are certainly competitive.
Errr, no they isn't!
The 16-80 f/4, is not a very good lens.
Errr, its a phenomenal lens imo better than Sony fe 24-105 f4.
I had it when I still shot Fuji

and it was always too soft, even stopped down. m4/3 has the PL 12-60 f/2.8-4 if you want that zoom range or the 12-100 f/4, which is a substantially better lens in every regard (save for sizes) than the XF 16-80 f/4. As for the Sony A7IV IQ, um, there is less difference between m4/3 and APS-C (especially X-Trans) than APS-C and full frame. Do with the information what you will.
dream on

X-S10 is a very superb camera imo, so is the sensor, one of the best sensors in any camera.
Hahahaha okay. You're one of those.
What, one of those that's tested close to every single new camera in the last 18months+ The data I presented is accurate and fair, I'm not brand loyal to anyone or anything! m43 sensor is very dated poor dr/color depth, canon eos m is doa!
Haha, so have I. I've had a Z6, Z7, Pentax K1, Pentax KP, Leica SL, Sigma FP, Fuji X-T30, X-Pro 2, X-S10, A6600, A7RII, A7RIII, G9, S5, E-M1 II, E-M1 III, E-M5 III, Pen-F, GM5, Z50, Zfc, M6 II and I'm sure a bunch of others I'm forgetting. You're delusional if you think the < 2/3 stop of DR between X-Trans 26 MP and the > 1 stop between the current full frame sensors means m4/3 has poor DR/colour depth. It's absurd.
Well let me put it like this, m43 is a poor sensor in 2022, Olympus use every trick in the book and its admirable to get around its limitations but things like 17.9mp in 3:2 ratio doesn't really cut it for me!
Neither does this, m43 falls down really bad with color, 12 bits doesn't help!
