Very nice, Chris. What's your focal length on that shot?

Thanks! 750mm focal length, my 6"F5 newtonian. Camera was a Nikon D5500.

Thanks. I might try it at 400mm but probably too much of a crop to be worth it.

Andresch:

A 400 mm should work, obviously not as good as your 6"/f5. (f=750mm).  On Saturday night  I took 4 hours (240x1minute) of images of the Virgo Cluster with my Nikkor 180mm ED f2.8 at f/4 , Nikon  Z6 iso200, from my Bortle  7 backyard. With this lens I get an 8x11 degree FOV.  The image below is  387x518  pixels cropped from the 4000x6000 pixel image. The SNR in NGC4647  appears to be visible as a bright dot offset from the center of the galaxy.

Please share your 400mm result.

Was your image taken from a dark site?

Cheers,

hha
