Test shot in very low light hand held at 66% image magnification

Once the 3D light goes green using a single AF point on your selected part of the image, 3D tracks back and forward hand held movement, reframing etc with considerable speed.

At this level of magnification even as little as a tenth of an inch movement forward or backward I consider gives unacceptable image quality - 3D tracking the movement looks like being a game changer.

6 stops VR (at infinity) with the 105 macro S should help 3D perform better than no VR.

The technique should work well with insects heads.

Spring with lots of insects should be here soon

Thanks Leonard. I can’t wait to try this out when my Z9 arrives. Bayou Josh just released a YT video where he tried out 3D tracking on some macro shots in a forest: https://youtu.be/2Qz6kV9O-H0 and it looks very promising for my intended use.
