Re: EOS M50 Nightlapse Focus Issue

Hello

I'm hoping one of you fine souls can help me figure out an issue I had with my EOS M50. I was trying to do a nightlapse the other night with my camera and a Sigma 16mm f/1.4 lens. I had my camera set to manual focus in the settings and there is no switch on the lens to go from auto to manual focus.

My struggle was in trying to use the canon utility to do a timelapse set-up. When it got dark, it failed many of the shots and told me there was a problem with the focus. I am confused as I thought I had everything set to manual. Is it possible I might be missing a setting to make it shoot whether it's truly in focus or not? Thank you in advance for any help you can provide

Russ

Russ,

I have that lens and before trading in my M50 for an M6ii, I did some time-lapse imaging with it.  I am unclear though on which shooting mode you're trying to use? You refer to night-lapse and time-lapse, which implies that you are in Movie mode, but then you said "it failed many of the shots", which sounds more like you're trying to use the interval timer in Manual shooting mode?  Which is correct?

Bob
