Well, I pulled the trigger on the Sigma 28mm 1.4 Art. Only had it a few hours, but already very happy. I've been a little leary about spending bigger money on a 3rd party lens, but this thing just exudes quality-- it's like a Zeiss with AF both in looks and appearance. I just had time for a few quick test shots before it got really dark, but so far the focus wide open and stopped down seems very accurate and fast, which was my biggest concern.
I'll spare you the obligatory completely boring first photos from the back garden.
Sorry that this thread wound up being a thread about third-party lenses in the Canon forum, but I originally was leaning towards another 24-70 F2.8L II. I'm thrilled I went a different way and have something a bit more unique to explore.
Glad you like it. I'm supposed to get the one I ordered tomorrow. I consider third party lenses fair game here as long as we can mount them onto a Canon camera! :>)
Let us know how you like it.
I lied about sparing you the boring pic from the back garden. Second exposure from this lens, wide open, handheld in twilight, 1/160, minimal processing. Boy, it sure pops-- loving it, and got a killer price on it (US$658 including 15% GST here in NZ).

Congrats on the lens. I was really tempted by the Adorama sale on the lens. I bought my first Sigma Art lens the 14mm f1.8 a few weeks ago and you are right they are built like tanks and the IQ is great.
