On the comparison to the P900, could do this, but not much to learn, I am sure at 250 efl, the P900 would lag considerably in comparison. ...

You misread what I posted:
"... If you did not do, should had taken some shots with your P900 at 250mm EFL to see what the ZS100's 250mm EFL would be like. ..."

I was referring to seeing if the 250mm equivalent "Focal Length" would suit your needs. Obviously the much larger ZS100 sensor would have better IQ.

Jon - from that angle, I knew how 250 EFL fit in my needs, as I have numerous cameras that have this or longer that I have been using for years. I was saying that at 250 efl, the zs100 wins over the P900.

. .. Now gotta find a proper sized bag or belt pouch for it. It screams for one as do most of these small cameras. I have several around, but have not found one of mine that is the right fit yet - any ideas. ...

I'm currently using a old Pearstone Onyx 250 Camera Pouch (4.5 x 2.7 x 1.8") I had for my G15. Can be used with shoulder strap, or as belt pouch—as I do.

The inside height enough to have a spare battery at bottom, and ZS100 on top. I like the two side zippers that you can unzip both to have a 'open pouch' for easy R&R.

There's a inside small pouch for extra SD card, I use the front zip pocket for holding a micro-fiber cloth.

Thanks for the info on this pouch - I will search it out. In the olden days I would just run out to Walmart and they would have several choices on the shelf, but no more.

.. The only truly "pocket" camera I have found is my phone. ...

My favorite "truly shirt pocket" size camera is the old Powershot S110.

The combo of the 12 MP 1/1.7" sensor and the f/2.0-5.9 24-120mm EFL lens overall FAR more versible than a smartphone,

The f/2.0 24mm EFL good for indoor/ lower lighting.

I have an Canon S95 which is quite similar. And a G11 with the same size sensor.

IMO it's really a shame (scam) that Canon, Panasonic (LF1; LX7), and others discontinued their 1/1.7" sensor compacts.

1/1.7" sensors are fantastic. I have had folks question me when I say that the 1/1.7" sensors are in a completely different class than the 1/2.3" sensor cameras, but I believe that to be true. Always hated it when Oly quit using it and believe Nikon has dropped all their 1/1.7" sensor cameras also. I also have an Olympus Stylus 1 with 1/1.7" sensor that reaches out to 300 EFL and is f2.8 all the way. It is one of my most used cameras. When you need some reach and have low light conditions it has few rivals in the small camera camp. Super camera to take to indoor performances where they won't let you in with big cameras.  The verdict is still not in on whether the  ZS100 can replace the Oly for these situations.  Maybe, maybe not? That big 2.8 is an asset and the 1" may not be that much better at available aperture/focal length combinations (much higher iso required)

300MM EFL - f2.8 Olympus Stylus 1-SOOC

And on the small 1/2.3" sensor cameras I have a Sony HX80 which reaches out to 720 EFL optically that this ZS100 will likely replace. The Sony has reach, but IQ can't match the ZS100 and the pop up viewfinder is terrible.

Have a good day.
