I have the T and the F. I prefer the form factor and handling of the T, but the viewfinder enhancements of the F are nice, along with the increased pixels to improve the crop ability and usability of the crop modes. I’d like the weather sealing of the V.

So as an upgrade to the V I’d like to see:

  • a reduction in size to T levels.
  • IBIS/OIS to allow better low light handling or longer shutter speeds for creative purposes. Don’t say it can’t be done within the size contrasts as Ricoh can do it with the considerably smaller GRIII.
  • RAW+ option in crop modes (seems bizarre it’s not there).
  • Weather sealing built in without need for extra filter.

Few more things.

UHS-II card slot

Larger EVF/OVF with longer eye-point.

Similar to X-T3, two-pivot LCD screen (X-T100 has two-pivot screen, but opposite direction).

Ability to close screen for protection and simpler use like the Pen-F would be good. Back of screen to match the finish of the body.

Some consumer like FAS, some consumer like two-pivot LCD screen, some consumer like hidden screen (X-Pro 3).

Better solution is make screen modular design, let consumer can purchase LCD/AMOLED module and plug into camera body.

Consumer may upgrade to higher resolution screen in future.

LCD/AMOLED module use single USB Type C as wiring to camera body.

How about better processor (faster, less heat, drain less battery power) with below computational photography features :

  • Hand-held High Resolution mode - multi-shots with IBIS for generate high resolution image. Processed in camera and can include Raw.
  • Hand-held High Resolution crop mode - enhanced from Hand-held High Resolution mode, use only when crop to 50mm for seamless generate true 26MP image (simulate 50mm lens).
  • Optional Electronic Variable Graduated ND filter - AI powered "thin transparent B&W LCD panel + polarizing filter" (detachable like existing clear filter) in front of fixed prime lens act as optical-based variable ND filter. When turn on auto graduated ND mode in menu, camera always capture photo/video at base ISO, highlights protected via partial image area covered graduated ND if needed (AI powered).
  • Consumer can manually detach above ND filter during low-light shooting. Both side of ND filter glass will auto covered (trigger via spring) when detached, pocketable without case.
  • Electronic variable aperture blade via thin transparent B&W LCD glass, able simulate different aperture blade shape depends on setting/type of photo : rounded aperture blades more pleasant out-of-focus background blur; 9 blades for 18 sunbeams...
  • Hand-held Live Composite - Muti-shot for simulate long exposures (together with above auto ND filter mode and IBIS) to build up light trail composites images.
  • Cinematic Photo Mode - takes a series of photos focused at different distances into single RAW file in camera memory (RAM). RAM can temporary store up to 30 second although turn off camera (with battery), allow consumer choose Depth-of-Field effect (click on person/object) after shot via computational photography on select/merge photos. Processed in camera and can generate new Raw which only contains selected photo (smaller size) into SD card.

Not sure why “Cinematic Mode”. Simple focus-bracketing and stacking ala Olympus would be great.

Simple focus-bracketing and stacking ala Olympus great too.

Cinematic Photo Mode more flexible, consumer can choose either everything is in focus or some item blur.

Simplify solution: default direct "combines all images into an image where everything is in focus" write into SD cards first, but consumer still can choose Depth-of-Field effect (click on person/object in "everything is in focus" image during playback) or first focus or last focus image later.

If using electronic shutter from stacked sensor (from X-H2), may be allow consumer more seamless switch within Cinematic Photo Mode / burst shoot / normal shoot.
