Well my version of the crystal ball tells me that R7 will make a huge succes as well as the previous Canon's APS-C cameras. Its market presentation will be acomplished by a number of a mid range RF lenses fulfilling the gap.

I would buy it and in the mean time a M6 mk II.

In other words, any kind of such a speculations about the (un)success of any future camera is just a pointless waste if time. Any such a theory can be "supported" by any made up wannabe argument which will change less about its irrelevancy.
