The OP sums up my feeling exactly! It's a very good description of the EVF's worst aspects. As I say any time someone will listen, using an EVF is like kissing your sister. I feel like I'm taking a picture of a picture, and it's not even an attractive picture. I suppose I might embrace EVFs when I can no longer discern the difference from OVFs, but that's many generations away.

Presently, I dabble in MFT with a Lumix GX8. For a six-year-old camera, the EVF is pretty good- large, clear and hinged to work vertically as well as eye level. Nice! It's nice to use in very low light. When I was shooting bright sunlight reflections off winter ice, it gave me a usable view and saved  my eyes from UV injuries. But the that's all the good parts. The GX8 has horrible shutter lag, because of the mirrorless design. The sensor loses two stops of DR to my K-1. It's fun to use when IQ doesn't matter much. It doesn't get much use compared to the Pentax system.
