I have an RF 85 and 50 1.2's and the focus motors are Ok (not lightning fast but not glacial), but they both seems to focus fast enough for anything I throw at them. I've never tried it for sports, but I have tried them at 1.2 on relative fast moving dogs and they were both pretty accurate on an R5.

I've always thought an 85 would be a thing to try in a basketball/volleyball gym. Granted it will not be the single lens solution for those, but I feel like it can really work in some situations.

I used the 50 yesterday for an hour or so, with my kids running around in the yard - on the R5 and R3 I had maybe 5% shots missed focus, it was pretty good really. Would you say one is slower than the other? Or not noticeable?
Really keen to know how the 2 85's stack up for AF - the 1.4 IS and the RF 1.2
