A fisheye lens will help, yes, but a six-inch dome is far too small for good splits regardless. There are 12", 17" and 18" domes available specifically for split shots, but they cost a pretty penny - https://www.mattysmithphoto.com/shop/equipment/custom-split-shot-ports/
