Climbers Chalk Bag
5

If the Benzer isn’t to taste,

If I want a simple belt pouch I have a few to choose from. One of my favorites is a climber’s chalk bag — but make sure it’s a virgin. (Never had chalk in it.)

Mamut Chalk bag. X100V with Haoge Square Hood is safely tucked inside.

The pictured Mamut is on big side and rather deluxe. Purposely chosen for its extra pockets to stow batteries, lens cloth, conversion lenses, etc. The X100V will slip into most ordinary chalk bags too — at least all of them in my collection. The Mamut is “clipped” to my belt using a soft shackle but you can use an ordinary carabiner or method of your design. I can attach a shoulder strap using Peak Design Anchors if I’m not wearing a belt. Other bags may provide alternative methods of fastening. Most, if not all, will accomodate a thin nylon chalk bag belt. (Which can double as a shoulder strap.)

At times I use an ordinary “hip pack” (as I proclaim it to be every time my travel partner mutters the word “dad bag” or “fanny pack” under her breath). Ironically, my favorite soft “antiqued” brown leather “bum bag” was purchased many years ago as I “exited through the gift shop” the Indiana Jones ride at Universal Studios in Orlando. I realized I needed something to hold my jacket, glasses/sunglasses and Rollei Prego Micron camera as I walked through the park. I can’t speak for the leather — but similar sized bags are readily available.
