Interesting stuff, I picked a couple of these up in the shop, and they are still a bit smaller than the typical mft kit. EVF is good enough. They handle really nice. So I am tempted and looked for used ones for a while. But I hoped for a bit more from de 1 inch sensor, it's quite a big bigger than the old canon G's and A's. And sensors have advanced itsself too. But I see the same as you, not a big jump in IQ (in samples and in your shots too).

It's a pity, I have the feeling Canon doesn't squeeze everything out of the sensor like they did with the good old thingies. Or maybe a cam with that price simply needs a better sensor in the first place.

I have a P510 and a P610 with tiny sensor, and if you can keep the aperture down it can resolve a crazy amount of detail. Wait, here...

So why can't the 1 inch sensors reach this level?

I agree that Nikon puts more love in things. But, alas Nikon abandoned the DL, which perplexes me to this day. Nikon did their own 1”, has a better jpeg engine, did nano optical coatings. The sample images from the DLs showed. There is no doubt in my head had Nikon not cancelled the DL, it’d be the 1” king… Alas we have Canon and Sony. Canon is the better of the two in my book.
