CONGRATS…. Sounds like you got one like mine, the evf is the same as the Sony one smooth in both directions and sharp , the lens is even across the frame end to end and sharp even at infinity wideopen ./ in all fairness the mk1 g7x i had had a decent copy of the 24-100 lens with no decentering but the G5x-ii I borrowed was poor

I haven't had a chance to shoot it with much quantity in good light yet, but thus far it appears I have a 10/10 copy across the board. One small nit, the pop-up flash, was stuck; I had to manually pop it open a few times and now it behaves normally. I (almost) never use a flash so it's not a big deal, but glad that's resolved as I would've been, upset, to have a perfect copy of the G5X II otherwise, even if it's the thing I don't use.

The pop-up EVF doesn't have to be mashed down to stick when stowing, the dials aren't stiff like the first copy I had, it makes a big difference in terms of feel; it doesn't feel cheap like the first copy I had. Sorta reminds me of good fast food, there is a big difference between good fast food and bad fast food... Whether it be Taco Bell or McDonalds, there is a significant difference between well prepared food and poorly prepared or old food that's been sitting on the warmer a little too long. I'll say the same is true here with the G5X Mark II. Thus far the lens appears to be even across the board, which ironically my first copy even though I had a blast with it, appears poor compared to this one.

I am finding that although a fast lens and 1" exceeds my expectations in low light, no, it can't challenge my FF setup. Wasn't trying to, but it's interesting both how well it performs, and how much farther the FF setup does go. Now is it worth it? I'll say no, having a good point and shoot or say smaller MILC setup ala EOS M system, goes further than dropping ridiculous cash on FF setups that need something smaller to pair with for on the go. Now I don't expect point and shoots to survive, or the aforementioned APS-C system to survive either sadly, I do expect FF to survive though. It's a shame but point and shoots are going extinct due to smartphones... That's sad. Even some of the folks that were common on the M forum, smartphones now. You know, it really doesn't matter as long as it gives you what you want, be it in image quality, quantity, or fun. As much as I like to harp on smartphones, they do photography too.

You've been around the forums too I can tell from the number of posts. I probably have nearly as many combined between my various handles over the years here, edit, excuse me, you have 61000 posts, I have closer to maybe 10k, never mind... It's sorta sad to see these forums dry up. I don't feel that its people are out shooting with their stuff. You know, maybe that isn't a bad thing either, these forums can be a waste of time and resources too. Vanity dare I say. DPR forums have had their place though as somewhere for venting purposes though.

Off topic; thoughts about FF vs Point and Shoots? I noted you're a FF and G5X II shooter yourself. Except you do it for $$, I'm just a well funded enthusiast. Any thoughts from the peanut gallery regarding Z9? Saw your have a Z7. The RF 28-70 f/2L keeps me glued to the R system as that particular optic is unique, otherwise the Z9 appears to be a winner on paper.
