Jon_T, I love when you find my threads As always, great image enhancement.
Thanks; you're welcome
... I am managing to underexpose all my pix at the moment so I have to figure out why I'm doing that when I didn't seem to do it with the SX50. ...
Different cameras, just need to learn how your RP metering system works with different lighting conditions; Grackle/ foreground underexposed a little due the brighter background areas. May check in your RP Menu settings that the "Expo. simulation" is enabled.
It actually is! I went through a video last week and made a bunch of changes, but then reset it as some of the drove me crazy (many were battery saving changes but I felt hampered by the camera dimming constantly). So I'm starting over again.
... Is Canon's DPP4 good enough? I just downloaded it but haven't done anything with it. I don't think LR6 will see RAW from this camera. ...
Have not used DPP because I use other camera brands, and use non-Canon lenses on my Canon DSLR's, Note that DPP only has lens profiles for Canon Lenses.
Prior to downloading/ installing DPP 4: verify your computer (CPU type/speed, RAM, Graphics Card, available Hard disk , etc.) meets/ exceeds the DDP 4 "Recommended System Requirements".
It actually runs well on my old machine I
Also note your SX50HS images may appear sharper while viewing images due to the greater DOF the smaller 1/2.3" sensor provides than the FF sensor.
I am noticing there is less of a focus point area with the RP and I'm guessing that's why. When pixel peeping I can see the RP is much sharper though, especially on fixed objects.
Buy your "... I think I should be able to get more sharpness! ...", in my previous reply I was assuming you were mainly speaking of the sharpness of the Grackle feathers which IMO softness is mainly due to the small pixel surface area/ small amount pixels—especially when 100% pixel viewing:
That IS what I meant about the sharpness. Â
Have fun with your new RP!
I am... I think hah! Going from the SD950 to the SX50 was a huge leap and I think I expected that same WOW with this one. I think it is there, I just have to work a little harder for it. And I did want a challenge
Have you bought any other lenses than the RF100-400mm?
If not just a FYI Canon USA Refurbished Lenses have the refurbished RF 24-150mm f/4-7.1 IS STM for $249.00 HERE.
The 100% Pixie Pixel Peepers love to criticize this lens, but for the $249.00 it makes for a good small/ lightweight general purpose lens; e.g., reviews:
CameraLabs, PhotographyBlog; the-digital-picture.com, etc.
I got the 24-105 kit lens with the camera but have not even unwrapped it yet. I read a thread on the one you linked and that sounds pretty nice, I've bookmarked it.
It's nowhere near as warm as they said it would be today, but I did sit outside for a bit and got a few more pix, SOOC. I switched back to TV for awhile. I think I need more practice for FV.
