DOF is soooo shallow even with a 1" sensor at that kind of distance - 44mm @ F3.5 (or F4 in my shot) doesnt seem too adventurous on FF and its not but given that a FF sensor with the same pixel density would be over 100Mp , on the end of a lens which focusses that close , its amazing what these cams can do - the closeup abiity of the RX10 Mk3/4 isnt great even with "600mm" - the G1X Mk1 wasnt even closeup let alone macro and the GX7 series / G5X Mk1 lens didn`t get as close either . .

The EVF is totally essential for this - I like the size of the cam but do wish they`d used the old super solid G5X MK1 body with the fixed EVF - it was only a bump bigger than the G7X

Funny you mentioned the EVF; I forgot I tried the shot without it, and had to deploy the EVF for the shot. Flashback moments…
