Greetings Sigma users
Long story short, I was doing a magazine shoot at high altitude 6000-7000 ft this last week. I decided to use the SDQ and the FP, the FP worked fine no issues, but the SDQ would go into the sleep mode between shoots, and when I pushed the shutter release button to wake the Q up it went to SD logo black screen on the LCD and that's it. I kept having to turn the SDQ on and off to get it to work.
Ok, now the weather, it was cold, snowy and windy, temperature was 38 degrees F with a 15 mph wind or more, so about 10 degrees F. The camera and lens had snow on them, but here's the kicker, my son's Nikon D610 with a Sigma 18-50 lens never missed a lick, zero issues. I've used my SDQ-H, SD1M, and SD15 in this type climate without issues. I now use the SDQ-H and FP for the different color modes.
Oh Well
Take care have fun
Roger J.
Roger J,
As a matter of interest, is the Firmware up to date in that sd Q. The early ones did have a cold weather problem which was fixed with a FW update.

Greetings S
The firmware is 1.11 I tried it upgrade to 1.13 but the camera won't upgrade.
Thanks
Roger J.
Roger J,
Firmware 1.09 had to do with cold weather operation, also see Firmware 1.12.
I think it would be worthwhile updating to FW 1.13. There should be no reason why you could not do it, if you follow the instructions.
FW 1.13 only adds Teal & Orange, but all earlier FWs would be included in it.
See details below.
S
Ver.1.13
2020.04.03
A color mode Teal and Orange has been added
Ver.1.12
2018.10.25
- It has corrected the phenomenon whereby the camera freezes after reactivation from LCD Auto Off if the Viewfinder Mode or LCD Mode settings have been opened from the main menu.
- It has shortened the time to recognize the card when an SDXC card is used.
Ver.1.11
2018.08.28
It has corrected the phenomenon whereby X3F files that have been extracted from X3I files cannot be developed a second time, if values are adjusted and saved onto the files using SIGMA Photo Pro.
Ver.1.10
2018.06.20
- It has become possible to automatically retract the lens barrel of the 70mm F2.8 DG MACRO | Art, when the camera’s power is turned off.
- It has set the maximum shutter speed in SFD (Super Fine Detail) Mode to 1/500 sec., so as not to duplicate shutter speeds of the individual images.
- It has corrected the phenomenon that the X3F/X3I images taken with SIGMA Capture Pro cannot be developed properly when the value adjusted by SIGMA Photo Pro is saved to the file.
- It has corrected the phenomenon that the images occasionally show some green or magenta color rendering after updating the firmware.
Ver.1.09
2018.04.13
It has improved the camera operation in low temperatures. Inconsistent performance of the viewfinder, main display, shutter and image saving has been improved.
Hi S
I'm trying to get the Q to see the upgrade. I formatted the SD card, downloaded the firmware to the SD card inserted the SD card to the Q turned on the Q choose update but the camera fails to see the firmware update.
I'll keep trying
Thanks
Roger J.
Roger J,
Make sure to format the card in the camera. Download the .bin file and copy it into the root directory in the card in a card reader.Do not put it into the DCIM folder. Pop the card in the camera with a fully charged battery and follow the instructions carefully. It will take three or four mins. to load and all should be good.
