Apparently, there are perhaps a few variances in the RF70-200 f2.8's out there. I noted when Dustin Abbott did his review it didn't impress him for being really sharp for one thing. My copy however turned out to be what I like to call "Clinically" sharp throughout its entire range one end to the other wide open no less.

I sure don't see this often especially from anything outside of a prime. For my use the RF70-200 f2.8L can and will be used instead of a prime where possible. When I do a 200mm shot wide open I can completely blow the background out behind a portrait if I desire. Not an easy task with so many f2.8 lenses. I adore the lowered weight and don't ever bother with the tripod mount remaining attached, so I can walk around with it on my gripped R5 all day long without tiring.

The focus speed on this bad boy is lightning fast and extremely accurate needless to say. It hit's what I aim at in the blink of an eye no waiting. I actually hesitated to buy one as it was going to be the last in the group of lenses I added to my collection of RF's But in the end I just had to try it out and am very glad I did.

My copy seems to be more like yours. The pictures blew me away first time I took some, I am pretty sure this is one of the best RF out there, (I will stay away from adding an adjective to my sharpness evaluation, the lens is sharp I can say though).

That being said, before this lens I tried a 24-70 2.8 L and that lens was really bad, I do not know if it was my copy or that lens in general, but I was pretty bummed and worried until I mustered the courage to go complain and the store gladly took it back for store credit, that is when I picked up the 70-200 and I was in heaven. I tell you this story because I only ever see people in love with the 24-70 so it could be different copies are just different. Since that experience I have bought 3 other RF lenses and all have been about equally good to each other with my favorite right now being the 100mm 2.8 Macro, this lens might make me sell one or two of the other ones because I can't bring myself to take it off, on this one I will confidently use the clinical sharp comment, and the 100mm range must just be my thing I guess. The Bokeh is soo nice too, sorry to derail the main point.
