I have Smallrig cage-setup + a top handle on its way to me, and combining that along with a gimbal seems to be a overload, right? That way, a steadicam would be a more affordable/suitable option, i reckon. What do you lot think?

I have a nice cage for my R5, but it’s a large-ish setup. Smallrig makes good stuff.

However for my M cameras, I use just a simple top handle…

Hotshoe video handle

And have added a (quick screw-on) side handle for stability.

This is a nice compact (and lightweight) option for hiking, yet you can still add a mic, screen, light, etc.

As for lenses im using on my m50 mark ii, i have a 22mm and 11-22mm, so not that "heavy" lenses, i guess.

If you want more zoom range, look at the EF-M 18-150 or (a good copy of) the 15-45 or 18-55. They all also incorporate Canon’s in-lens “Dynamic Image Stabilization” which compensates for much larger movements when shooting video.

Have fun!

Ah, good input. I will first try with a top + side handle for my Smallrig before investing in a steadicam. Gimbal requires power, and since i often film in remote locations, that prooobably is not an alternative for me then.

Ahh i also forgot to include that i have the kit lens for M50, the 18-55mm.

Will check out the 150mm one. Thanks.
