What's IPB light?

jethro,

You have your standard frame rates like 60fps, 30, 24 etc.

I guess at some point in the not so distant past, Canon started offering a light version of their recording sizes. You have a Standard and a Light. In the camera I have (the T8i) , it only has the 30fps Light. In some of their higher end models, you can have 60fps Light and 24fps Light, etc.

I don't pretend to understand the computereze behind it, but apparently, it uses a smaller bit rate, and the Light file sizes are about half of what the Standard file is. This saves disk space.

So far, I haven't experienced any degradation in quality.

As I sit here, I do not know how various film editing programs or video display programs handle this Light recording size. I do know that the VLC player and VideoPad and IrfanView did not experience any problem at all.
