This question is for M50 owners: Approximately how many shots per battery charge you get?
I had my M50 set to power saving mode, preview disabled, WiFi disabled, Bluetooth enabled and was getting a disappointing 60 to 90 shots per charge. I eventually returned the camera for this reason, but I am now curious what is the real life battery life for you?
Hi Mr Jam,
I use an M50 and get about 1000 (yes one thousand) shots per charge.
Perhaps you could elaborate on your shooting style ?
I would hazard a guess that if I put a M50 into the fastest frame rate, turned off image preview and continuous focus and held my finger on the button (or something similar to this like shooting long high speed bursts of moving subjects like kids sports or birds) blasting away as many shots as possible in the shortest possible time with no review or using the screen for making changes - that yes, an extremely large number of shots per charge would be possible.
For most people who might take a couple of shots, perhaps review them, make some setting changes, and a few more shots (leaving the camera turned on most of the time between shots) etc etc, then 1000 shots on a little M50 battery seems unusually high.
I know that the few times I used my 6D ii to try to capture BIF, I was taking bursts of around 25-30 shots at a time (shooting until the buffer filled) with the LCD screen closed (and obviously an OVF, not EVF), I took about 2500 shots and barely moved the needle on the battery indicator (it dropped 1 bar), so I would guess that shooting like this could have got me 6000-8000 shots on a battery - but that is far from typical shooting.
