Re: Need your suggestion for right gimbal

I have had a lot of gimbals over the years. It kinda depends on what phone you have and how big/heavy it is. I have a tiny gimbal from Snoppa that is compact, pocketable and seems well made but my phone is too heavy for it.

IMO the best brands are Zihyun and DJI. I like the DJI OM 5. Check out the list of compatible phones: https://terra-1-g.djicdn.com/851d20f7b9f64838a34cd02351370894/om-5/OM%205%20Mobile%20Phone%20Compatibility%20List.pdf

A couple thoughts:

- most all gimbals are designed to hold naked phones. i don’t know why because i think most people use a case. if your phone is large and you have a case, it will be a tight fit.

- most android phones seem to not allow full access to the camera. meaning, you might not be able to do everything with the gimbal controls using the gimbal camera app. you might have to use the native camera app and just tap the screen on your phone. for photos i would suggest using a timer mode, where you tap the screen and then 10 seconds later the photo is shot.

another thought based on what you said. if you are zooming in to get a macro shot by digital zooming, you won’t ever get a crisp photo. most phone cameras have a macro mode. i have tried macros on iPhone, vivo x70 pro+, xperia, samsung, pixels and others. but don’t zoom in by pinching the screen. use the macro mode. and if you use the timer mode also, you can tap to shoot and then steady your hands and hold your breath and possibly brace yourself or the phone when it actually triggers. you might not need a gimbal after all.
