I'm glad you noticed. The softness in my image is partially a result of a shutter speed that was too slow for the focal length - a handheld shot. However, I did choose a very specific focus point and a larger aperture to produce the out-of-focus elements in the image.

By comparison, your DP3M shot has a more than adequate shutter speed (given the focal length) , a smaller aperture, and seems to be focussed in the middle to upper half of the photograph. And yet, at full-size on-screen, the image has a soft foreground (given the aperture and probable focus point), and the upper corners of the image are too soft - indicating, perhaps, less-than-stellar lens performance at certain apertures.

Nevertheless, the colours are nice
