Hi all,

I have a question regarding photography at night or low light situation. Usually I need to crank up my iso to 6400 even when using the Sigma 16mm F1.4 at 1.4 aperture to get a visible image. I am able to reduce its noise using photolab to get a good image. However, there are times where 6400 is still quite dark. In such situation will you recommend me to shoot above iso 6400? Will dxophoto lab noise reduction work at high iso e.g. 12800 or 25600? Would like to hear your suggestion based on your experience with shooting at high iso.

Thank you.

Any way that you can increase the exposure itself? Do your subjects allow you to lower the shutter speeds at all? Shoot bursts? Improve timing? Use a Monopod or Tripod? "String Pod?" Improve lighting? Flash?

From their previous posts in this thread, the OP is photographing fish at an aquarium.

Thanks. I think if they shot bursts, stabilized their camera, and used a shade (instead of a polarizer), that would help with that one scenario. I see them picking up a couple of stops easy.

I am not sure if they were using a polarizer for reflections on the glass, or for the fish. If it is the former, a rubber lens hood and the lens right against the glass works great.

+1 Yeah, I've got one of those big wide ones for that, but I really like to drape a piece of black felt in addition.  That way you can move the camera around more easily (instead of sticky rubber on glass), and tailor the shape to what you need too.
