I understand the sentiment, I really do.

A couple weeks ago I bought a brand-new X-T4. After a few days testing, I discovered that the first exposure after powering up the camera would always be 3 stops overexposed. If I made a sequence of an unchanging subject, the first would be over, the next would usually be correct, and the following frames would bounce between slightly over and slightly under (by about a half-stop). None of them matched. Using the electronic shutter, they were all exactly the same, first to last. Clearly, the mechanical shutter had issues.

I picked up the replacement from the store yesterday, and so far everything works as intended. It would be dishonest to say I'm not a little concerned, however.

All that being said, I've owned Fuji equipment of some sort since 1978. I've owned their  35mm cameras, medium-format cameras, large format lenses, enlarging lenses, and some gear I can almost guarantee no one here even knows they made. In all that time and over all that hardware, this is the first piece of Fujifilm equipment I've ever had any problem with.

So yeah, I'm a little bummed that I got a lemon. But it happens, to every maker, and after 44 years with Fuji stuff I think it was just my turn.

At the same time, you can bet I'll be watching this X-T4 very closely!
